Rhyme

Product Overview: Functionality

rhymeSIGHT™ provides front and back office functionality all working on a single database. This means that there are no reconciliation issues between modules as there is no double-keying or transposition errors. It also means that throughput can be dramatically improved, moving orders from the front office, once confirmed, through to the back office functions of settlement and reporting. Equally, new client data, cash postings entered in the back office module are immediately visible to your fund managers via the front office module. This bi-directional capability possible only because of working from a single data source is one of the cornerstones for the development of the product.

Front office

The seamless move of investment decisions through the system through ordering to deal placement to confirmation of the deal and finally to settlement is imperative if the business is to grow in this increasingly competitive market place. It is imperative that your customers are well serviced and feel that value has been added.

With rhymeSIGHT™ it is possible to perform all of the above without the need to undertake the work on different systems. The secret is that it is all the functions are performed around a single database. Gone is the need to reconcile systems. Orders pass through their life cycle in the way they should without details having to be re-keyed the order details along its path.

We have recognised that the decision making process is key and thus we have provided the facilities whereby the fund manager can actively manage his/her clients through simple but powerful enquiry tools that allows decisions and 'what if' transactions to be generated to see the effects on the portfolio.

The front office also contains a true integrated GIPS compliant performance measurement facility which takes cognisance of the transactions entered throughout the working day.

Back office

Rhyme's back office module is completely multi-currency enabled. It also allows greater control over your accounting entries, by providing facilities to sub-divide the postings resulting from investment or banking transactions.

The module also caters for an extensive range of financial instruments in all back office functions, none more so than in the area of dealing. Orders can be introduced into the system either from the front office module, input manually, or if required, input automatically - in real-time or batch - from an external third party application using a published import format. As deals are created, they are checked against investment guidelines and limits. This process may already have been undertaken in the Rhyme front office product (or other 3rd party products), if in use, in which case the checks will act as a double-check that no breaches have or will occur as a result of the deal. An example of such a check is for breaches in ISA limits, cash balance checks and checks that the appropriate currency dealing accounts are correctly set up.

An enquiry facility is available to check the status of all the deals entered into the system. This will also show if a deal is in error and will allow a repair to take place and then to re-submit the deal into the system. To identify if an exception has occurred, an email alerts facility is available.

If manually entering trades, there is the concept of a 'draft' deal. This can be used where large bulk trades are being entered, allowing the input clerk to stop and start the input process.

There are extensive functions available within the module to support the remaining 'back office' functions.

Full business process control with inbuilt workflow eliminates manual and non-value added activities, driving down costs and focusing staff on customer service excellence.
